Description
The Dark Green Jade Orange Eye (OE) "Green Demon" Shrimp is a highly desirable, selectively bred variety of the dwarf freshwater shrimp, Neocaridina davidi. It is celebrated for its unique combination of intense color and a rare genetic trait.
Coloration: These shrimp exhibit an intense, vibrant dark green hue across their entire body. This green is typically more profound and rich than that of standard green jade varieties. The animal may appear black in lower light due to its intense dark green color. High-grade specimens are fully opaque and solid green.
Defining Feature (OE): The most striking characteristic is the presence of Orange Eyes (OE). The normally dark or black compound eyes of Neocaridina shrimp are replaced by a bright, fiery orange or golden color. This contrast between the deep green body and the glowing orange eyes is what earned the shrimp its dramatic nickname, "Green Demon."
Grading System:
High Grade: Even, solid green coloration with full body coverage and strong pigment expression. No visible defects.
Mid Grade: Good overall pigmentation, but showing traits such as darker shading or a noticeable dorsal line.
Low Grade: Light green to transparent body with weak pigment expression. Color quality is low, but genetics are still usable for selective breeding.
Cull: Poor coloration and/or visible defects. Not suitable for breeding or grading projects; recommended for non-selective or display purposes only.
Size & Selection:
We offer a mix of young juveniles, approximately 1–1.2 cm in size. Larger specimens around 1.5 cm may be available depending on stock.
Our Tank Parameters:
- TDS: 200
- pH: 7.5
- KH: 4–5

Origin: Bred in-house in Lithuania at our facility.
Grading system
Our Green Jade OE (Orange Eye) shrimp are selectively bred from Neocaridina davidi lines focusing on color depth, body coverage, and stable expression of the OE trait.
This line combines solid green pigmentation with the recessive orange eye mutation. Grading reflects phenotype quality, pigment density, and genetic stability.
Cull Grade
Color ranges from light green to green-yellow with noticeable transparency.
Body coverage may be uneven, especially across the abdomen.
Best suited for genetic projects or strengthening OE lines through selective breeding.
Low Grade
Moderate green coloration with partial body coverage.
Some translucency may be visible under strong lighting.
Orange eyes are present but may lack strong contrast against the body.
Suitable for hobby breeding and colony building.
Mid Grade
Stronger green saturation with improved pigment density.
Body coverage is more solid and consistent across the carapace and abdomen.
Orange eyes are clearly visible and well defined.
Good stability when breeding within the same grade.
High Grade (Select Line)
Deep moss-green to emerald coloration with high pigment density.
Full, solid body coverage with minimal transparency.
Bright, clearly defined orange eyes with strong visual contrast.
Consistent phenotype reproduction when selectively paired.
Ideal for advanced breeders and premium display colonies.
Genetic Notes
OE (Orange Eye) is typically recessive and requires proper pairing for consistent expression.
Color intensity improves through line breeding and selective culling.
Offspring ratios may vary depending on pairing strength and line stability.
Water parameters
Neocaridina shrimp flourish in most dechlorinated tap water, making them an excellent choice for both beginners seeking dramatic color and experienced aquarists building premium breeding colonies.
Care Parameters: These hardy shrimp adapt beautifully to a wide range of conditions. Our colony thrives at: TDS: 200, pH: 7.5, KH: 4-5, GH: 7-8, Temperature: 22-23°C.
