Suksai Aquatic White, also known as a microbial bag or Lubao pouch, is a specialized pouch designed for freshwater aquariums. It is filled with natural, nutrient-rich materials that promote the growth of beneficial biofilm and green dust algae. It is suitable for both Caridina and Neocaridina tanks.

Key Benefits & Applications

  • Continuous Food Source: Serves as a consistent source of grazing material for shrimp, supplementing their diet between regular feedings and potentially reducing the need for frequent feeding. It does not, however, replace a complete shrimp food.

  • Tank Cycling & Maturation: Facilitates the establishment of beneficial bacteria, a crucial step in cycling a new aquarium. It releases small, controlled amounts of ammonia to help create a stable biological ecosystem.

  • Ideal for Absences: An excellent solution for providing a lasting food source when you are away.

  • Water Quality Stabilization: Releases CO₂, slightly lowers pH, and enriches the water with beneficial enzymes and nutrients, contributing to a more stable aquatic environment.

Usage & Dosage

  • Initial Setup: Simply drop the pouch directly into the aquarium. No rinsing or soaking is required.

  • Feeding Protocol: Do not feed the shrimp for the first 1-2 days after introducing the bag to allow the biofilm to start forming.

  • Dosage Guide:

    • 5g Pouch: Recommended for 25-40L tanks. For tanks with 100+ shrimp, a double dose or a 10g pouch may be needed.

    • 10g Pouch: Recommended for 50-80L tanks. For large colonies of approximately 200-300 shrimp in tanks 80L or greater, using two bags is advised.

  • Replacement: The pouch should be replaced every 30 days. The strong, rotten smell upon removal is normal.

Monitoring & Maintenance

  • Biofilm Growth: Look for a cotton-like biofilm on the pouch. In tanks with a large shrimp population, the biofilm may be less visible as the shrimp are actively grazing on it.

  • Gas Release: Slight bubbling from CO₂ release may be observed. The pouch may float; you can gently squeeze it to release the trapped gas.

  • Ongoing Care: Ensure your filtration system is running and that there is good aeration to support bacterial activity and overall water stability.

  • Note: The product has been shown to be effective even in tanks with only gravel and no soil.
