Description
The Bloody Mary Orange Eye (OE) "Red Demon" Shrimp represents the pinnacle of selective breeding in the Neocaridina davidi lineage. This extraordinary dwarf freshwater shrimp captivates aquarists with its mesmerizing appearance and rare genetic distinction.
Coloration: Witness an exceptionally deep, vibrant crimson that saturates every millimeter of the body. Unlike standard Red Cherry or Red Sakura varieties, the Red Demon's pigmentation resides within the body tissue itself—not merely the shell—creating an intensity that must be seen to be believed. Premium specimens display a fully opaque, solid red canvas that catches light with remarkable depth.
The Defining Feature (OE): What truly sets these shrimp apart are their luminous Orange Eyes. Where nature typically provides dark or black compound eyes, the Red Demon blazes with bright, fiery orange orbs that glow against the crimson body. This dramatic contrast—deep red flesh meeting molten orange eyes—is the source of the shrimp's evocative name: "Red Demon."
Size & Selection:
We offer a mix of young juveniles, approximately 1–1.2 cm in size. Larger specimens around 1.5 cm may be available depending on stock.
Origin: Bred in-house in Lithuania at our facility.
Grading system
Our Red Demon OE (Orange Eye) shrimp are selectively bred for deep red pigment density, strong body coverage, and stable orange eye expression.
Grading is based on phenotype quality, pigment intensity, transparency level, and consistency of OE genetics.
Low Grade
Entry breeder quality with developing phenotype expression.
Red coloration is present but lighter in tone (ruby to red-orange).
Moderate transparency may be visible, especially along the abdomen.
Pigment coverage may be uneven.
Orange eyes are visible but can lack strong contrast depending on lighting.
Genetic output may produce variation in tone and intensity.
Suitable for hobby breeders and colony building.
Mid Grade
Improved phenotype expression with stronger visual impact.
Deeper, more saturated red coloration.
Better body coverage with reduced transparency.
More even pigment distribution across carapace and abdomen.
Orange eyes are clearly visible and consistently expressed.
More stable offspring ratios when paired within similar grade.
Ideal for selective breeding and high-quality display colonies.
High Grade
Premium phenotype with strong genetic stability.
Very deep, rich crimson to blood-red coloration.
High pigment density with minimal to no transparency.
Clean, solid body coverage and balanced structure.
Bright, well-defined orange eyes with strong contrast against body color.
Consistent reproduction of both color depth and OE expression when selectively paired.
Suitable for advanced breeders and premium display aquariums.
Genetic Notes
OE (Orange Eye) is typically recessive and requires proper pairing for consistent expression.
Red intensity improves through strict line breeding and selective culling.
Offspring variation can occur depending on pairing strength and generational stability.
Water parameters
Neocaridina shrimp flourish in most dechlorinated tap water, making them an excellent choice for both beginners seeking dramatic color and experienced aquarists building premium breeding colonies.
Care Parameters: These hardy shrimp adapt beautifully to a wide range of conditions. Our colony thrives at: TDS: 200, pH: 7.5, KH: 4-5, GH: 7-8, Temperature: 22-23°C.
