Description

BOA Shrimp (Boa Caridina) are a high-end Taiwan Bee–type Caridina shrimp, prized for their bold, exotic patterns and deep, contrasting metallic colors. They are considered one of the most premium and visually striking varieties in the aquarium hobby.

Size & Selection:

We offer a mix of young juveniles, approximately 1–1.2 cm in size. Larger specimens around 1.5 cm may be available depending on stock. For high-grade specimens, we exclusively offer fully matured adult shrimp to ensure optimal coloration, pattern definition, and overall quality.

Origin: Bred in-house in Lithuania at our facility.

Grading system

Our BOA shrimp are graded based on genetic stability, pattern structure, color density, and overall phenotype consistency. Grading reflects both visual quality and breeding potential.

Cull Grade:

Phenotype shows unstable or weak pattern expression.
Pattern may be broken, faded, asymmetrical, or lack clear structure.
Color density is lower, with higher transparency across the body.
Suitable for genetic projects, outcrossing, or improving specific traits in selective breeding programs.

Low Grade:

Pattern is present but lacks full clarity or symmetry.
Moderate color saturation with some transparent or uneven areas.
Genetic expression is partially stable but may produce mixed offspring ratios.
Good foundation stock for hobby breeders refining lines.

Mid Grade:

Strong phenotype expression with defined pattern zones and improved symmetry.
Higher pigment density and better contrast between base color and markings.
More consistent genetic output when bred within similar grade.
Ideal for hobby breeders working toward line stabilization.

High Grade

Exceptional phenotype with sharp, clearly structured pattern and strong symmetry.
Very high pigment density with deep, saturated coloration and minimal transparency.
Distinct metallic sheen or reflective “galaxy” sparkle across the carapace and pattern areas.
Stable genetic expression with higher probability of reproducing similar high-quality offspring when bred selectively.
Suitable for advanced breeding programs and premium display colonies.

Water parameters

Caridina shrimp thrive in slightly acidic water conditions with low carbonate hardness (KH), which supports their overall health, successful molting, and optimal breeding performance.

Our tank parameters: TDS: 120, pH: 5.5-5.8, GH: 4-5, KH: 0-1, temp 22-23 °C.

Water Source: RO/DI Water & RemineralizerTap water is rarely suitable. Water is treated with GH-only mineral salt (e.g., Salty Shrimp GH+).

Soil: ADA v1.
