The "Blue Diamond Shrimp" is a popular, selectively bred variety of the dwarf freshwater aquarium shrimp species, Neocaridina davidi. They are highly sought after in the aquarium hobby for their striking and deep blue coloration.

Coloration: They are characterized by a deep, opaque sapphire-blue color that covers their entire body and often their legs. Higher-grade specimens have a rich, solid, non-transparent color.

Size we sell: a mix of young juveniles approximately 1-1.2 cm in size. We may release larger shrimp, around 1.5cm, depending on stock availability.

Bonus Offer: We include 2 complimentary shrimp with every purchase of 10.

Grades:

Grade 1: Fully Opaque/Solid. The blue color is so deep and rich that it looks like a solid coat of paint (or a "diamond," as the name suggests). You cannot see through the shell to the internal body.

Grade 2: The coloration of these specimens is generally described as semi-transparent or translucent. The blue pigment lacks the desired opacity, often presenting as a lighter wash. When the shrimp are observed under direct or bright lighting, the underlying internal tissues of the body may be visible through the shell, a trait that is particularly common in males.

Furthermore, it is typical to observe pigment instability, manifesting as undesirable brown or black coloration (often residual wild-type genetics) appearing in various areas of the shell on some individuals within the group. These factors indicate a lower grade, as they detract from the deep, uniform color prized in high-quality strains.

Our tank parameters: TDS: 200, pH: 7.5, Kh: 4-5, Gh: 7-8

Temperature: 22-23 °C. We use no heaters; only room temperature.

Neocaridina shrimp thrive in most tap water conditions, provided a quality dechlorinator is used to neutralize chlorine and chloramines before introduction.
