Flame moss (Taxiphyllum sp. 'Flame') is a striking aquatic moss known for its unique, upward-twisting growth pattern that resembles flickering flames—hence the name.
Important:
The moss comes directly from our shrimp tanks; some pest snails might hitch a ride. We always strive to clean the moss as thoroughly as possible before you receive it.
General Appearance
Growth habit: Unlike most mosses that grow horizontally or spread outward, flame moss grows vertically in tight, spiral-like curls.
Height: Typically grows 2–4 inches (5–10 cm) tall.
Color: Rich, deep green when healthy.
Texture: Soft, delicate, and finely branched, but structurally tighter than other mosses.
Aquarium Use
Placement: Commonly used in aquascaping to create carpets, attach to driftwood, or wrap around rocks.
Growth rate: Moderate; slower than some mosses like Java moss.
Light needs: Low to medium. Brighter light can make it grow faster and more compact, but it can also invite algae.
CO₂ and nutrients: Optional, but they help boost growth and color.
Care tips
Light: Low to medium; more light can enhance vertical curling, but too much may trigger algae.
CO₂: Not required but improves growth and appearance.
Temperature: Prefers cooler water (20–26°C / 68–79°F).
pH: Neutral to slightly acidic (6.0–7.5).
Weight/portion:
Each unit is 250ml.
