ABOUT SUKSAI AQUATIC

A shared passion for life underwater.

Suksai Aquatic began not as a business, but as something quieter — a shared hobby between Alex and Aistė. Evenings spent arranging tanks. Watching fish glide through plants. Watching shrimp graze on moss.

Over the years, that hobby became a careful operation. Forty tanks. Hundreds of generations of shrimp bred under our own roof. Aquatic plants grown in our own water. A shrimp food we formulate and produce ourselves, in Lithuania. The small hardware in our tanks — caves, breeding plates, filters, airstones — designed and 3D-printed in our own workshops in Lithuania and Sweden.

The hobby never left. It just grew up.

WHY WE DO IT

Most shops resell. We don't.

When you buy a shrimp from an importer, you inherit whatever water it came from, whatever it was fed, whatever stress it carried through transit. That uncertainty is what most shops pass on to you. We didn't want to sell that.

So we built the alternative.

100% of our livestock is bred in our own tanks. The water is ours. The genetics are ours. The food is ours. The plants growing alongside them are ours. By the time a shrimp leaves us for your tank, we know exactly what it has lived in, eaten, and adapted to. That continuity is the difference between a shrimp that survives shipping and a shrimp that thrives a year later.

This is what daily, hands-on care actually means: not a slogan, but a system.

OUR APPROACH

Four things almost every shop outsources. We don't outsource any of them.

There is a reason most shrimp shops feel interchangeable. They sell imported livestock, fed on imported food, kept among imported plants and off-the-shelf hardware. Suksai Aquatic was built to be the opposite.

THE LIVESTOCK

Bred Here.

100% of the shrimp and fish we sell were born in our own tanks. We breed Caridina, Neocaridina, Neocaridina OE, and Betta fish under stable, monitored parameters — selecting for color, vigor, and consistency across generations. The shrimp you receive grew up in water close to what most European hobbyists keep at home, which is why they acclimate well and continue breeding once they reach you.

We do not pass importer stress on to our customers. We don't have to.

THE FOOD

Made Here.

We produce our own shrimp food in Lithuania, to our own recipe. We control what goes in, how it's processed, and how fresh it reaches the tank. That matters more than most hobbyists realize: the diet shapes color, breeding rate, molt quality, and long-term health. It is the single variable a shrimp keeper interacts with most often, and the one most shops never actually own.

We own ours.

THE PLANTS

Grown Here.

Plants are not a small detail in an aquarium. They define the scape, support healthy water chemistry, and provide grazing surface and shelter for everything that lives among them. We grow ours in our own tanks, under our own conditions, in water our shrimp and fish also live in.

That last point matters. Plants from import farms often arrive carrying snails, hydra, planaria, or pesticide residue from agricultural growing methods. Plants grown alongside our own livestock — in tank-safe parameters, with no copper, no heavy fertilizers, no questionable imports — can go straight into your tank without the usual quarantine drama.

Mosses are our specialty, because shrimp keepers care about them more than almost any other plant: shrimp graze on them, shelter in them, and depend on the biofilm that grows across their leaves. But we grow a wider range of aquatic plants too — selected for the natural, planted layouts our customers actually build. Each variety is propagated from cuttings of our own established cultures.

THE HARDWARE

Printed Here.

The filters, airstones, and small accessories you'll find in our tanks — and in our shop — are designed and 3D-printed by us, in our own workshops in Lithuania and Sweden. If it's practical and belongs in an aquarium, there's a good chance we'll make it.

We print using aquarium-safe materials — filaments selected and tested for long-term submersion, with no leaching, no degradation, no shift in water parameters. The same standard applies whether a piece is going into a shrimp tank, a betta setup, a planted aquascape, or a custom build that a customer brings to us. We iterate on designs based on what we observe in our own tanks every day. When a shape doesn't work, we change it. When a customer needs something specific, we can usually make it.

This is what vertical integration looks like in a shrimp shop. Not many of us do it. Fewer still do all four.

OUR JOURNEY

Built step by step.

Curiosity, rebuilding, and a constant desire to improve the environments we create for shrimp and fish.

  1. 2019

    Started in Sweden

A few small aquariums became a deeper interest in freshwater shrimp, betta fish, planted tanks, and aquascaping.

  2. 2022

    Moved to Lithuania

Rebuilding from scratch was not easy, but it gave us the chance to refine our setup, improve stability, and design stronger systems for long-term success.

  3. Today

    Growing with intention

Forty carefully managed tanks. A working food production line. An in-house plant cultivation program. A 3D-printing workshop running across Lithuania and Sweden. A breeding program now spanning multiple generations of in-house lines.

BEYOND BREEDING

Aquariums as living worlds.

Aquariums are more than tanks to us — they are small living ecosystems. Through aquascaping, we create calm, natural spaces using plants, hardscape, moss, and careful layout choices that support both visual harmony and healthy aquatic life.

The same patience that goes into breeding goes into the scape. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is decorative for its own sake. Every element earns its place.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND IT

Built by Alex and Aistė.

Suksai Aquatic grew from a shared fascination with the small details of life underwater — shrimp grazing on moss, fish moving slowly through planted tanks, the quiet logic of a balanced ecosystem.

What started as a hobby gradually became a carefully managed operation. Every shrimp, every fish, every plant we grow, every batch of food, every printed cave reflects the patience and attention that brought us into the hobby in the first place.

Suksai Aquatic is built on the things we refuse to outsource — the breeding, the feeding, the plants, the small hardware. We do them ourselves because we believe that's the only way to know what we're actually selling. We're proud to share that with every aquarist who chooses us.
